Caracas, October 25, 2016 (venezuelanalysis.com) – Venezuela's National Electoral Council (CNE) has publicly condemned a molotov attack on one of its regional headquarters in Lara state.

The institution reports that five molotov cocktails were thrown at the entrance of its Lara offices in the early hours of Monday morning, in the second attack of this kind in the western state this year

“The Electoral Power reiterates its rejection of the violence unleashed against its regional headquarters and calls for dialogue and peace in the country,” reads an official CNE statement.

The latest attack comes after the CNE postponed regional elections due to take place at the end of this year, and temporarily froze the opposition-led presidential recall referendum process due to irregularities.

Sporadic roadblocks organised by right-wing Popular Will party have also been reported throughout the capital since the CNE announced the postponement.

An opposition protest is scheduled for Wednesday.
