Meanwhile in Venezuela, an informative meeting on the elections and situation in Venezuela:
Location: Lombokstraat 40, Amsterdam
The keyspeaker is the ambassador of Venezuela to the Netherlands.
Following the April 14th elections in Venezuela, whereby interim socialist president Nicolas Maduro won just over 50% of the votes, oppositional forces headed by Henrique Capriles Radonski were mobilised throughout the country inciting riots and the burning of community health centres leading to the death of at least seven civilians. While the Union of South American Nations recognised Maduro’s victory, the United States and the European Union call on Venezuela to recount the votes. The course of action taken by the Venezuelan government in response to the violence will most likely have a long lasting impact upon the Bolivarian revolutionary process.
Vrienden van Venezuela invites all those who sympathise with the Bolivarian process to an evening of discussion on the current situation, the relevance it should have for progressive forces in The Netherlands and how we can continue to demonstrate our solidarity.
