Venezuela 101: 21st Century Socialism

Charles Hardy is a U.S. citizen who has lived in Venezuela for most of the past 25 years and has witnessed the political and social changes at close hand. Eight of those years were spent living in a cardboard and tin shack in a barrio on the periphery of Caracas. Author of Cowboy in Caracas, A North American’s Memoir of Venezuela’s Democratic Revolution, (Curbstone Press), Hardy will attempt to give listeners an introduction to new thoughts emerging from the Southern hemisphere based on his contact with the grassroots citizens of Venezuela. He will be joined by Chuck Kaufman of the Alliance for Global Justice who will discuss US “democracy promotion” programs aimed at subverting democracy in Venezuela and other countries.
