Seminar: Is there media bias against Venezuela?

Dr Lee Salter – The Journalism Policy and Practice Research Group (University of the West of England)
Iain Bruce – Former BBC Caracas correspondent and adviser to Telesur, the Latin American news channel
Dr Francisco Dominguez – Centre for Brazilian and Latin American Studies (Middlesex University)

* How do the media manufacture opinion?
* Ten years of BBC bias on Venezuela
* The Washington Post & The Economist : Pro Uribe and anti-Chávez bias in the media
* The Guardian: Negative reporting on Venezuela
* Telesur – an alternative way of informing
There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. The aim of the seminar is to present the results of a substantial body of academic research on the patterns of (mis)representation of Venezuela.
