Venezuela has had the largest reduction in unemployment in the continent, which currently sits at 6.2 percent, revealed Elias Eljuri, president of the Venezuelan National Institute of Statistics (INE).
According to monthly statistics from the Venezuelan National Institute of Statistics (INE), inflation for last month was down, unemployment has increased slightly and overall accumulated inflation for this year is slightly higher than last year.
The president of the Venezuelan National Statistics Institute (INE), Elias Eljuri, reported last week that unemployment in Venezuela fell to 8.4% for the month of September, a difference of 1.2 points from the previous month.
Amidst a drought-induced electricity shortage and an overhaul of financial sector regulations, Venezuela saw a 5.8% drop in its GDP and an increase in inflation over the past year, while public investments, social spending and the unemployment rate have remained steady.
The
president of Venezuela's National Statistics Institute (INE), Elias Eljuri, announced
on Friday that poverty in Venezuela has been reduced by 22.6% since President
Hugo Chavez took office.
Venezuela's accumulated inflation during the first six months of this year was 10.8%, a significant decrease from the 15.1% accumulated inflation during the first six months of last year. The unemployment rate remained constant at 7.7%.
Monthly inflation in Venezuela dropped to 1.3% in February from 2.3% in
January and the unemployment rate in January dropped to
9.5% from 10.2% in January 2008.
