Statement
The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Commander Hugo Chávez, on behalf of the Bolivarian Government and the Venezuelan people, congratulates the sister people of the Argentine Republic on today’s successful elections.
At the same time, we celebrate the overwhelming support of the Argentinean people to Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, which shows the solid support of the majority for the continuity of her effective administration.
Additionally, this is a new victory for the project of South American unity, which finds in Cristina one of its main leaders, just as Néstor Kirchner was in his moment, an honorable president of that great nation and first secretary general of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR).
The continuity of this political direction is fundamentally important for the peoples and governments of Latin America, since it is fair to say that her (Kirchner’s) continuance at the helm of the Argentina’s destiny strengthens the hope for a future of dignity and sovereignty for the entire region.
On this day of popular jubilation, Commander President Hugo Chávez reiterates the willingness and commitment of the Bolivarian Revolution to continue working together with a just, free and sovereign Argentina to consolidate the great homeland dreamed of by our liberators, José de San Martín and Simón Bolívar.
To the great Argentinean people, health!
