Caracas, March 7, 2018 (venezuelanalysis.com) – Two Venezuelan women were shot dead in the northern Colombian border province of North Santander in separate incidents last Saturday evening.

Maribella Guerrero Sanchez, 39, was with a group of family and friends in a pool hall in the San Martin de Tibu neighborhood when a man reportedly entered, fired six shots, and fled without a word.

Sanchez was the owner of a bar located in the municipality of Catatumbo and police suspect the murder could be linked to a turf war in the area.

Meanwhile, that same evening, Nancy Arlenys Quiroz Aguilar, 22, was killed inside the Las Vegas brothel, where she was employed.

According to Quiroz’s co-workers, an unknown man entered the establishment and requested her services. The two made their way to one of the rooms and gunshots were subsequently fired, which allegedly went unheard by others on the premises due to the loud music.

North Santander police are reportedly investigating both incidents to determine the motives and the culprits.

The murders are the latest in a series of alleged femicides perpetrated against Venezuelan migrants in neighboring Latin American countries.

Last month, a Venezuelan female sex worker was kidnapped, raped, tortured, and ultimately murdered in Mexico City.

Known professionally as “Kenny”, the 26-year-old disappeared the night of February 23 at an electronic music festival only to have her disfigured body appear two days later.

The woman is the sixth female escort murdered in Mexico over the past year, of whom four have been Venezuelans.

On December 24, another Venezuelan woman by the name of Adriana Escalona was shot dead by armed men in a reported drive-by while leaving a nightclub in the northern Mexican state of Nuevo Leon.

Likewise, on November 16, 24-year-old Venezuelan escort Genesis Uliannys disappeared on November 16 after visiting a client in a motel in Mexico City. According to the autopsy, she died of strangulation and stab wounds to the abdomen.

On February 4, 2017, 26-year-old Venezuelan sex worker Wendy Vaneska was killed in the Escandon neighborhood of Mexico City, though further details are unknown.

In recent years, Mexico has received numerous female Venezuelan migrants attracted by promises of work as models only to be subsequently forced into the sex industry in order to cover the costs of their travel.
