At the first National Communal Economy Fair in Caracas on Saturday Communeros/as came from every state in order to show a sampling of what they produce to the public. Thousands queued up in long lines to purchase vegetables, sweets, handicrafts, clothing, meat, and other goods. Products cost around 50% of the commercial price. The fair gave one the sense that the organised people are capable of producing a large part of what the country needs. Comuneros/as commented that they feel that the communes and what they produce are an important front in the battle against the economic war and in converting Venezuela into a producing country rather than one that depends so heavily on imports. Full analysis article to come.
