Santa Elena, September 22nd, 2015. (venezuelanalysis.com)- Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez extended her congratulations on behalf of President Nicolas Maduro to Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras for his reelection on Sunday.

“[His] victory will put Greece on the path to prosperity with dignity and within the framework of sovereignty for his country,” Rodriguez stated via Twitter.

“The Bolivarian government ratifies its desire to undertake projects in tandem with the Prime Minister to broaden cooperation between the two countries,” added the Venezuelan minister.

Tsipras, who heads the left-wing coalition Syriza, has previously expressed admiration for Venezuela’s Bolivarian process and hailed it as a successful example of a people’s rebellion against neoliberalism.

The Greek Prime Minister was reelected in a snap election with a surprisingly clear majority, despite his resigning from the same post in August, after unveiling a dramatic U-turn of policy, which favored a pro-Euro bailout over his anti-austerity platform.

Earlier in August, Venezuela and Greece had signed an extensive energy agreement, the details of which were not released.
