Venezuela Condemns Israeli ‘Criminal Aggression’ and Backs Iran Following Airstrikes

Caracas, June 13, 2025 (venezuelanalysis.com) – The Venezuelan government has condemned Israeli attacks against Iran and expressed its backing of its Middle Eastern ally.
“Venezuela categorically condemns the illegitimate and unjustified Israeli military aggression against Iran, in violation of international law,” read a statement issued on Thursday night.
Caracas’ communique came shortly after Israeli forces launched dozens of strikes inside Iranian territory, targeting nuclear facilities and military bases, as well as striking residential areas. Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander-in-Chief Hossein Salami was reportedly killed alongside other high-ranking military officers and six nuclear scientists.
At the time of writing, Iranian authorities have not published casualty figures. Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed that Israel would face “severe punishment” for its military aggression. Tehran likewise stated that it held the US responsible for “Israel’s adventurism.”
Thursday’s strikes came amidst US-Iran negotiations over the latter’s nuclear program. The Iranian government stated that the Israeli attacks justified the country’s “insistence on the right to enrichment, nuclear technology, and missile power.” Tehran announced that it would not attend an upcoming round of talks in Oman.
The Nicolás Maduro administration blasted the latest bombings as “another act of war to add to the large list of crimes by Netanyahu’s regime” and voiced support for Iran.
“We express our firmest solidarity with the Iranian people following this cowardly attack,” the communique read. Caracas blasted Tel Aviv as “the greatest threat to peace” in the world.
Venezuela and Iran have developed ever closer ties in recent years as both countries face wide-reaching US economic sanctions. According to reports, the two nations are preparing a free trade agreement.
The Maduro government had likewise backed Iran’s retaliatory missile attacks against Israeli targets in April and October 2024.
Caracas and Tehran have also been united in their support for the Palestinian cause, opposing Israeli occupation, ethnic cleansing and genocide while also criticizing the lack of action from the international community and the United Nations.
