Venezuela Supports 2,275 Bolivian Projects

Venezuela is supporting the implementation of 2,275 projects in Bolivia through the program "Bolivia changes, Evo achieves" with a contribution of US$214 million.

The Bolivian chancellor, David Choquehuanca said that such economic support is subject to social control. It is also part of an agreement of cooperation around areas of social development signed by the two countries in January 2006.

"Prior to the payment of resources and evaluation of the regional projects is conducted and though this cheques are handed out in 3 payments: 40 percent at the start, another 40 in the second phase and the remaining 20 percent at the conclusion of the project," Choquehuanca said.

The Bolivian vice president, Alvaro Garcia Linera, denied some media versions that the contribution is US$6 billion.

"It's unimaginable to think that there would be $6 billion circulating in the country," he said.
