Four National Guard Troops Killed on Venezuela-Colombia Border

Increased conflict along the colombian-Venezuelan border have caused seven Venezuelan casualties in the past week.

Colombian forces killed four Venezuelan National Guard soldiers over the weekend. It was not clear if exactly who the Colombians were, whether with the leftist Guerrilla, right-wing paramilitary forces, or drug traffickers. “We presume this was carried out by a group of Colombian irregulars,” Venezuela’s Gen. Castor Perez said. A total of seven Venezuelan soldiers have been killed in the border region in the past week. It is the first time in six years that National Guard troops have been killed, according to Venezuelan officials.
