Los Angeles, June 15, 2016 (venezuelanalysis.com) – With the hashtag #YoCreoEnVenezuela, people from around the world expressed their reasons for standing alongside the Venezuelan people this week. The International Network of Grassroots Communicators (Red Internacional de Comunicadores de Base) launched the campaign to mobilize across movements and protest continued foreign intervention against the region. The campaign intentionally coincided with the Organization of American States Summit in the Dominican Republic to take advantage of the regional gathering’s high profile.

In a statement, the Network writes, “In Venezuela, the right-wing on a national and international level are bombarding the people of the world with false testimonies about the reality in Venezula and to counteract that their terrorist media assault, we have designed the campaign #YoCreoEnVenezuela (I Believe in Venezuela, the hashtag’s English translation).”

The organization called on grassroots movements from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, Ecuador, Cuba, Spain, Africa, Russia and Palestine among others to participate. Venezuelan workers as well as a variety of the South American nation’s top officials such as Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Jorge Arreaza and state institutions including the nationalized oil company PDVSA Gas and several embassies participated in the social media campaign as well.
