Venezuelan Peasants March for “Democratic Radicalization” and Land Reform, against Bureaucracy

On Thursday, November 25, peasant rights organizations and their allies marched through the streets of Caracas with the message, “The people stand by Chavez, for the democratic radicalization of the revolution.” Carrying signs that read “bureaucracy sabotages socialism” and chanting “the people stand up against bureaucracy and to combat capitalism,” thousands of people from 16 different states marched to the National Assembly. They demanded the acceleration of the government’s land reform program and the elimination of corruption and other obstacles to the construction of a socialist economy.  Many participants travelled for more than half a day from rural areas to attend the demonstration.
