On Sunday the Venezuelan Communist Party (PCV) concluded its XIV Congress in Caracas following 3 days of discussions. Over 526 national delegates and 43 international representatives attended the conference, which was convened in conjunction with the PCV’s 74th anniversary.
As is Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez’s custom in the lead up to May Day (May 1st), yesterday he announced a national decree that increases the minimum wage by 26.5%.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez’s call for a renewed coalition of leftist political parties and social movements was praised on Monday by the Venezuelan Communist Party (PCV). Chávez announced the rebirth of the Polo Patriótico, or Patriotic Pole, this past Sunday on his weekly television program Aló Presidente.
Venezuela’s most prominent leftist parties renewed inter-party dialogue this week, while the largest coalition of opposition parties announced it is preparing a list of candidates for the National Assembly elections that are scheduled to take place next September.
