On Saturday, Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez denounced plans by opposition forces to offer US$100 million to assassinate him. He said fugitive media mogul Guillermo Zuloaga was partly responsible for the plot, and that Zuloaga’s television station, Globovision, could face government intervention as a result.
In interview footage obtained by Al Jazeera a Colombian paramilitary confirmed that a "wealthy Venezuelan politician" named Manuel Rosales, offered him $25 million to assassinate President Chávez by any means.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez did not attend the swearing in
ceremony of new left wing president of El Salvador, Mauricio Funes on
Monday, because of suspected assassination plans.
