Venezuela Housing Shortage Diminishes

Caracas, Sep 20 (Prensa Latina) This year Venezuela built over 90,000 houses as part of its policy to reduce the current 1.8 million lack of housing for the people.

Housing and Habitat Minister Ramon Carrizales announced 156,000 constructions in progress to stay ahead of the population growth by helping over 111,000 families a year.

Carrizales told Venezolana de Television about the delivery of over 30,000 subsidized loans with preferential rates to low-income households.

He added that if the constitutional reform is approved, housing will experience further progress as a prerogative of the people's power.

In such case, the Ministry's role would become that of providing technical advice and guaranteeing quality of construction.
