Caracas, Feb 14 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela will provide advice to the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic in the management of water resources in the context of integration policies, solidarity and complementarity, official sources said today.

According to spokesmen for the Ministry of Environment, as part of the agreement, 10 technicians from the Arab country will be trained by staff of Venezuela’s National Hydraulics Laboratory (NHL) in the field of hydrogeology and drilling.

This will facilitate access to drinking water in the Sahrawi Republic in order to “strike a blow to the neoliberal policies of imperialism”, said the Venezuelan authorities in this area.

The agreement will promote cooperation in the implementation and review of technical and economic feasibility, as well as hydrological studies in different regions of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, and exchange of information and experiences.

There will also be technical visits to sites of interest defined jointly by the parties, exploration, design and preparation of drilling shallow wells.

Venezuela is also interested in the study of groundwater in environments such as the Sahara desert, due to the existence of areas in the country north of Falcón and Zulia states, and the southern state of Lara, which have, on a small geographic scale, similar environmental conditions.

The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, in West Africa, was proclaimed in 1976. It is currently recognized by 53 nation states, including Venezuela.
