The Launch of Venezuela's 2012 Venezuelan Presidential Election Campaign in Images

With posters, massive rallies and speeches, on Sunday 1 July Venezuela’s 2012 presidential election campaign officially began. Incumbent President Hugo Chavez launched his campaign with a caravan and speech in the central Aragua state, while conservative opponent Henrique Capriles chose to hold events in Santa Elena de Uairen in the south eastern state of Bolivar and in Zulia state, to the north west of Venezuela. The campaign will last until 4 October, with voting on 7 October. You can read VA’s news coverage of the day’s events here.
